Discover(R) Card Ranked Highly In Customer Satisfaction In The J.D. Power And Associates 2007 Credit Card Satisfaction Study

Pioneer of Cash Rewards Scored in Top Two of All Factors; Scored
Highest in Rewards and Billing and Payment Process

RIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2007--Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) announced today that Discover(R) Card scored highest in both the Rewards and the Billing and Paying Process factors in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Credit Card Satisfaction Study(SM). The inaugural study analyzes the five factors critical to the level of satisfaction consumers have with their primary credit card companies. Discover Card ranked second among the top ten credit card issuers studied, performing well above the industry average.

In addition to scoring the highest in the Rewards and the Billing and Payment Process factors, Discover Card scored within the top two of all other factors, including Benefits and Features, Fees and Rates, and Problem Resolution. Overall, Discover Card scored within the top two for customer satisfaction, commitment and loyalty.

"As the leader in cash rewards, Discover Card is committed to helping its cardmembers make their money go further with programs designed to help them earn more rewards, more quickly and easily, than any other card company. Receiving the top scores in the Rewards factor from J.D. Power and Associates - and scoring well above the industry average - is recognition of that commitment," said Margo Georgiadis, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Discover Financial Services.

Discover Card offers unlimited rewards that never expire for active cardmembers, a full 5% Cashback Bonus on Get More purchases in popular categories that change throughout the year, and up to 1% on all other purchases. Plus, Discover Card is the only credit card that allows cardmembers to increase, even double, their cash rewards when they redeem for gift cards or e-certificates from over 80 brand-name retail partners.

Discover Card also received the highest score in the Billing and Payment Process factor, once again scoring well-above the industry average in this area.

"Discover Card gives consumers more control of and clarity about their credit and finances, while offering greater rewards and responsive customer service," said Carlos Minetti, Executive Vice President of Cardmember Service and Consumer Banking at Discover Financial Services. "As we build upon Discover Card's core strengths and make enhancements to deliver an even more simplified and straightforward customer experience, this recognition of our Billing and Payment Process is critically important."
