Computerworld's annual list based on work environment, benefits
and employee survey
RIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2008--Discover
Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) announced today that IDG's
Computerworld has rated it as one of the Best Places to Work in IT for
2008. Discover has been on the list of the top workplaces for
information technology professionals for the past six years.
"Discover works hard to provide career development options and
useful training opportunities, because we believe strongly that a
great working environment means much more than just good pay and
benefits," said Diane Offereins, executive vice president and chief
technology officer. "This honor underscores Discover's commitment to
creating a rewarding atmosphere that provides meaningful work
supported through teamwork, diversity and respect."
Since 1994, Computerworld's annual list has ranked the top 100
work environments for technology professionals, based on a
comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories
such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and
retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 276
technology workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily
in determining the rankings.
"The competitive edge sought by the best and smartest companies is
no longer information technology itself," said Scot Finnie, editor in
chief of Computerworld. "After all, IT has permeated the business
processes of almost every department of virtually every enterprise.
The new competitive edge is finding and retaining the very best people
to chart and implement your IT strategy."
The 15th annual ranking was published in the June 30 issue of
Computerworld and online at Computerworld.com.
