Discover Gives Back to Education Through Its 2011 Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes
Miamisburg, OH, Sept. 19, 2011– DiscoverÒ today announced that it is donating $25,000 to Mark Twain Elementary School in Miamisburg, Ohio, as part of this year’s Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes promotion. Mark Twain was chosen by Miamisburg resident, Eric Foss, an Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes May monthly winner who had a stepson that attended the school and will have a daughter attending the school next year.
Throughout the year, every purchase made on a Discover card is automatically entered for a chance to win one of 150 daily prizes and a monthly prize of $25,000, which Discover will match with a $25,000 donation to a public school of the winner’s choosing. A grand prize of $1 million will be awarded at the end of the year.
Foss won the monthly prize when he made a $2.14 purchase with his Discover card in May at a Walgreens in the area.
“Receiving a call from Discover saying I had won their monthly prize in their Everyday Sweepstakes didn’t seem believable at first, and it took me a while to convince myself that I had really won something,” said Foss. “The fact that Mark Twain Elementary School also benefits from my winning makes this even more rewarding. Thank you Discover.”
Jill Patrick, principal of Mark Twain Elementary School, said the donation will be used to purchase materials, programs, or equipment which will enhance student learning with a particular focus on increasing student engagement in the learning process.
