2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game Title Sponsor Sets Out to Hear From Most Loyal College Football Fans in America

RIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2012-- Discover today announced it will launch a 15-week fan loyalty poll in September that will give die-hard fans a platform to showcase their dedication and love for their favorite college football team.

Discover, title sponsor of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game and 2013 Discover Orange Bowl, will survey college football fans to find out which school truly has the most loyal fans in America. Discover will release these findings weekly, and will include an additional bi-weekly supplement that will reveal fun and exciting testimonies from fervent college football fans.

“The Discover Fan Loyalty Poll is a fun way to give fans a voice in ranking their favorite college football teams,” said Jennifer Murillo, vice president of brand communications for Discover. “The poll will be a barometer of fan passion and loyalty, and by including all aspects of the college football experience, it will reflect what's most important to the fans."

The weekly range of questions will include:

  • Which team is the best college football team in the country right now – based on the top eight teams from AP/BCS polls?
  • In thinking about your activities each week, how important is it that you watch your favorite team’s game?
  • When your team is having a bad season, do you still follow their games every week?
  • Do you regularly wear clothing or other items with the logo of your favorite college football team?
  • If you found out your team was playing its bitterest rival on your wedding day, would you change the date, change the time, keep the time but have the game broadcast during the reception, or go ahead as planned?

Coinciding with the weekly fan loyalty results, Discover also will release graphics and photos that best visually represent the fans’ sentiments towards their team throughout the 2012-2013 season.

Beyond title sponsorship of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game and 2013 Discover Orange Bowl, Discover’s commitment to college football includes relationships with ESPN and Notre Dame football on NBC.

The poll will be conducted by Rasmussen Reports, a nationally recognized leader in polling, and will gather sentiment by phone from more than 1,000 fans each week that follow college football at least once per week on television, radio, in person or online.
