Discover Gives Back to Education Through Its Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes
Chardon, OH. April 5, 2012– Discover today announced that it is donating $25,000 to Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, as part of their Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes promotion. Chardon was chosen by Kathy Pahanish, an Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes December monthly winner. Discover presented both Pahanish and Chardon High School with ceremonial $25,000 checks Wednesday afternoon.
Throughout 2011, every purchase made on a Discover card was automatically entered for a chance to win one of 150 daily prizes and a monthly prize of $25,000, which Discover matched with a $25,000 donation to a public school of the winner’s choosing. A grand prize of $1 million was recently awarded to a Northbrook, Illinois resident in March.
Pahanish won the monthly prize when she made a $91 purchase at Toys R Us in Boardman with her Discover Card in December. Pahanish and Chardon are the second 2011 Everyday Giveaway monthly winners from Ohio. Discover also awarded $25,000 to a Miamisburg resident and Mark Twain Elementary School.
“When I first received the call, it took a while for it to sink in that I won $25,000,” said Pahanish. “The fact that Chardon High School also benefits from my winning is even more rewarding. I want to thank Discover for giving me this opportunity to help make a difference for Chardon.”
