Discover Recognized For Adoption Benefits With The Silver Cradle Award

Company Earns Recognition for Commitment to Providing Adoption Assistance, Resources

RIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 2014-- Discover Financial Services received the Silver Cradle Award for its dedication to providing its employees with adoption benefits and resources through its Adoption Assistance Program.

Discover was one of 24 Chicago-area companies presented with the award by The Cradle, an Evanston-based not-for-profit adoption and child welfare agency. The award is given to companies who provide their employees with adoption-related benefits, programs and resources.

“Discover prides itself on providing its employees with the assistance and resources they need in order to help make important life decisions,” said Doug Rose, chief human resources officer at Discover. “We are honored to be given the Silver Cradle Award for our adoption benefits as we strive to support the well-being of our employees and their families.”

Since 2007, Discover has offered adoption benefits to its employees to assist them with the costs associated with adoption and as an additional component to its LiveWell approach to supporting health, wealth and balance. Such benefits include reimbursement for adoption fees, attorney fees and court costs up to a set amount. Discover also provides employees with comprehensive information and support tools for families going through adoption.

Since 2003, the Silver Cradle Award has been presented annually to Chicago-area companies that provide adoption benefits to their employees. The Cradle's mission is to benefit children and all others touched by adoption – by compassionately delivering exceptional education, guidance and lifelong support to build, sustain and preserve nurturing families. Since its establishment in 1923, The Cradle has found loving homes for more than 15,000 children.

Discover places a strong emphasis on the development and well-being of its employees and their families. Earlier this year, Glassdoor included Discover in its list of the Top 25 Companies for Culture and Values. In addition, Discover ranked No. 52 among large organizations on the 2014 IDG’s Computerworld “100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology” list.
